- After all, what is beauty?In this session you will reflect on the images and messages we receive from society about beauty and how this shapes our perspective; explore expressions of beauty that challenge normativity and help to widen our perspective; engage with the idea of beauty as something that is always within and around us11
- Who gets to communicate what?In this session you will: learn more about the dangers of the single story and the importance of stories from the margins10
- Cultural Appreciation or Cultural Appropriation?In this session you will: strengthen your understanding of culture - its meaning and its overlap with power and identity; gain insight into what cultural appropriation looks like and feels like and how it is different from cultural appreciation9
- To Hell With Good IntentionsIn this session you will critically explore ‘good intentions’, ‘help’, and the ways in which volunteering can harm; consider how images and messages used by charity / international aid agency campaigns may also harm, perpetuating stereotypes and reinforcing the idea of 'victims' and 'saviours'10
- Perspectives On Global DevelopmentIn this session you will gain awareness of your own perspective on planetary progress; explore different ways of thinking about and measuring progress and development8
- Algorithmic Awareness and the Ethics of Big TechIn this session you will build awareness of the design features of your smart phone; reflect on your relationship with your smart phone and social media apps; strengthen critical thinking around 'big tech' and how things could be different11
- Being Smart About Digital ContentIn this session you will become more familiar with different kinds of misleading content and how it harms; explore the connection between digital technology and disinformation; reflect on how you engage with digital content and strengthen your capacity to do so more skillfully in the future9
